DDESCSodium channels are heteromultimeric, integral membrane proteins belonging to a superfamily of ion channels. The mutations in genes coding for sodium channel proteins have been linked with several genetic inherited disorders called "sodium channelopathies". Dragon Database for exploration of sodium channels in human (DDESC) provides comprehensive information regarding the genes and proteins, metabolites and enzymes, chemicals with pharmacological effect, toxins, diseases and human anatomy and their possible interactions. These interactions are important for the understanding of functions of sodium channels at molecular and cellular level. Each proposed interaction is linked to the published literature. DDESC further allows exploring the "Hypotheses", which tend to find the link between two presumably previously unlinked entities and could suggest new topics for exploration. DDESC is freely accessible for academic and non-profit users. |
